Art Cards Debut
Alert! Realizing that my lifetime oeuvre represents a creative treasure trove, we have chosen six images to produce 5×7 art cards for sale worldwide. Because we are living in Arizona, near the artist colony of Tubac, four of the cards are of cactus blossoms and impressive cacti. The other two are universal images of butterflies — fantasy creations of resurrection, rebirth and reincarnation. (Early paintings of Christ often depicted him with a butterfly.)
Once we lived on 20 acres of desert northwest of Tucson in John’s parents’ old adobe home. Two of my live models were giant cacti growing on the property — a six-foot, fish-hook barrel cactus and a huge, multi-armed saguaro well over 100 years old. Maybe 200.
One of our early family portraits, circa 1981, was posed in front of the majestic saguaro: John, Alex, Stephen and me. Notice the palo verde trees in the background.
The barrel cactus grew to the west of there, sharing rainwater flowing down the same shallow arroyo. The barrel was unusually tall for that species, at least six feet. I was inspired to preserve both of them forever in watercolor. (A senior housing development was later constructed on that site.)

Our first two placements of the cards are in the gift shop of the Tubac Center of the Arts and the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild Art Gallery in Tucson, 5420 East Broadway, #240.
